Synagogue Visit · Berlin
A synagogue visit in Berlin pairs the building with its story — a guide walks you through the architecture, the ritual objects and the history of the community that built it.
Modest dress is appreciated and men are usually offered a kippah at the door. Most synagogues close to visitors on Shabbat (Friday afternoon to Saturday evening) and Jewish holidays — check the calendar before you plan.

"First time in Berlin and this was on the list of experiences. Fascinating, educational, traumatic and sad - ultimately hopeful!! Spent 4 hours, arriving just as it opened so relatively quiet which helped. You can do it more quickly but it really does deserve the full half day. Though devotees I could imagine could spend a whole day. Ultimately worthwhile and very poignant"
"very unique experience for the eyes, ears, and your balance, yes your balance. the building itself is a true gem. totally a must go."
"It’s an experience, thought provoking and evocative."
"it was an extense exposition so I recommend to reserve 2 hours to do it. It's a good activity to do in Berlin if you enjoy history and art"
